Tap Dance Chattanooga

The rhythm and movement of tap, created by the metal taps on the heels and toes of a dancer’s shoes, transforms the dancer into a percussive musician. Tap dance emphasizes the flow of movement by teaching the dancer to find rhythms and beats not only in music but in their own bodies.

Elementary Tap  (some experience a plus but not absolutely necessary)   Tuesdays 6:30-7:00

A chance for dancers to increase their  knowledge of this very popular American dance form.  Designed especially to give new students a chance to learn the basic steps and vocabulary of tap dance, this class is a great way to learn the FUNdamental skills needed.  Combines well with Elementary Ballet for a complete dance experience.

Junior Tap (Previous Tap experience required – Age 9 – 12 years)  Thursdays 4:30-5:00

These expanded classes give you the opportunity to learn rhythm, basic tap progressions, and the fundamentals of both classic Broadway-style tap and more updated, modern styles!

Adult/Teen Tap:  A great way to start your Saturday! Saturdays 10:15-11:00

A  Basic level class for students who already know flaps and shuffles and are ready to learn fun and easy combinations. If you can walk… you can tap!

Continuing Tap Tuesdays TBA

Placement in this class with the approval of the Directors.  This is a fast paced Intermediate and up class building on the skills that these dancers already have.
